MANCHESTER DAY PARADE
The Manchester Day Parade is one of the biggest events of the summer in the north west. Every June over 85 diverse groups from around the city are joined by over 30 artists and together they create a truly spectacular parade. In 2012 I was invited by Walk The Plank (the Manchester based arts producers who organise the event) to be a mentor for their ELEVATE project. The aim was to work with local artists to help broaden and strengthen their skills through a series of workshops and masterclasses. The images below are of the Nexus Art Cafe, who were the group I was working with alongside two local artists; Elyid Bryan and Harry Harris. It was a hugely enjoyable experience and as with all the best teaching experiences the learning was mutual. If you find yourself in Manchester in mid June it's well worth seeing.
